Berlin was the second stop on our trip and an unexpected favorite. To be completely honest, it was a destination that Sam had picked and I wasn’t too sure of. Needless to say, the city surprised me in all the best ways possible. From the moment you land in Berlin, you can tell it’s a place full of vibrancy, history, and a certain reinvented culture. You can feel it. Street art lives on every wall of every corner and each person possess a style that is unequivocally their own. Berlin just has this air that is ineffably its own, and Sam and I could have stayed wrapped in it forever.
Some of the highlights from our trip included: Datscha, a quaint Russian café in the middle of the neighborhood of Friedrichshain (where we stayed); a ton of great shops like Type Hype, The Store, and Luibain; Hard Wax for the music lover and record enthusiast that Sam is; and cafés like Silo and westberlin.
Amsterdam was another favorite. You can read a bit more about why we loved it so much in this post, but a few highlights from our trip include: daily bike rides in Vondelpark, eating great Dim Sum and even better ramen, exploring noord and all that it had to offer, shopping in the Nine Streets, and of course… bitterballen.
I know that the pictures don’t do these places any justice, so we’re working on a video to show you at the end of this mini-series! Stay tuned! xx, t.
