Last month on my way to Chicago, I picked up the Fall 2015 issue of Porter magazine – one of my absolute favorites. In this particular issue, I read that among trends like top-handle purses and layering long costume necklaces, shearling jackets were going to be very popular this season. Now I’m not typically one to follow trends, but since that moment, I have been seeing these coats pop up everywhere. Particularly the Acne Studios Velocite Coat, which if you haven’t already guessed it, is absolutely gorgeous but quite the pretty penny.
Much to my luck, I found a very similar knit version by Zara and have been living (no really, living) in it ever since. It’s perfect for layering and really does complete any outfit as we move into the thick of autumn. Then, for whatever reason (because you really would think this is common knowledge) it dawned on me: Keeping up with the trends doesn’t have to be solely for those who have the money to do so. There are so many great pieces on the market that offer the same great runway feel as expensive department stores and boutiques, just at a lower price. All you have to do is dig a little. For example, if you’re also loving the shearling look this fall, I’d recommend taking a look at this beautiful Nasty Gal version and the others I’ve linked down below. xx, t.
