I’m at a loss for words today. My heart feels full and my life appears steady. There’s nothing that I feel I need to say. Things are good.
It’s funny how that works, isn’t it? We only feel the need to share when our hearts are heavy and our plans are disrupted. We don’t – at least I don’t – always feel the need to share when something goes our way. We bond more over negatives and hardships than we do over joy and causes for celebration. It’s pretty backwards.
And it’s true – the very real struggles are what connect us as humans. They make us feel close to each other, as if we’re all on this big, even playing field called life. I won’t ever discredit that. However, what I think is so beautiful about those struggles is that we eventually come out of them. At some point, we rise to the occasion or grow in spite of hurt, and we come to a point of renewed clarity.
However we never want to share that. We want to remain humble and sometimes even sit in our pain. Well I say it’s time we start appreciating both. Don’t be ashamed of your hurt, but don’t let your happiness go unnoticed either. Both are essential in shaping the person you are today and the individual you will become tomorrow. And those who love and care about you want to be with you through both. So let’s let them! Just some thoughts for this Wednesday evening! xx, t.
