1 Look, 2 Ways: Free People Dress

Sometimes when you’re young, hungry, and on a budget, you have to find clever ways to remix the clothes in your closet. Now that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but definitely an act that forces you to get creative with everything that you already own.

So today I thought I’d show you two ways to wear one of my current favorite dresses. Because let’s face it: remixing a piece in your closet gives you more bang for your buck, more wear from your clothes, and more brownie points in the creativity department.

Look 1: The Expected
What I’m Wearing: Free People Dress (similar) | SheIn Jacket | Chloe Boots (sold out, similar here)
Rarelove Choker | Madewell Sunnies

The first look is what you might expect when you get a dress like this. It’s a bit of an edgier piece so I threw on one of my favorite leather jackets and an everyday choker (that’s only $6 and worth every penny.) With a few added accessories, you can elevate your look just past how everyone else would think to wear it.

Look 2: A Bit of the Unexpected
What I’m Wearing: Free People Dress (similar) | ASOS Jeans (similar) | Madewell Heels (on sale!)
Lucky Brand Belt (on sale!) | ASOS Tank (similar)

For a look that’s a bit unconventional, I opened up this dress so that it doubled as a light jacket. I love this trick because you can do it with almost any wrap-dress. The fabric of the piece makes the look feel feminine while the stars provide a contrasting edge. What would have been your average jeans-and-tee outfit is now transformed into something more interesting.
